East Side Charter School
Founded in 1997, East Side Charter School serves 280 students enrolled in grade pre-kindergarten through grade 8, with 45 in the pre-k program. Social Venture Partners Delaware has made grants to East Side Charter since the 2004/2005 grant year to support the three and four year old program. Significant improvements in East Side attributable to SVP DE grants and volunteer hours include the securing of a new location and lease; the addition of five members to the Board of Directors with substantial experience in the financial, legal, marketing and planning areas; the increase in mentors from 50 to 100; the retention and training of well-trained pre-school staff; the funding of field trips; and the enhancement of the pre-school curriculum.
