West Center City Early Learning Center
West Center City provides education and day care services for 110 children ages 6 weeks to 8 years old. Social Venture Partners Delaware to West Center City since the beginning of the SVP partnership. Grants to WCC have gone to support the pre-school program which includes children from 6 weeks old through kindergarten. Substantial improvements attributable to SVP DE’s investment and volunteer hours are: a summer enrichment program; music and dance lessons; staff bonuses for educational and training improvements; the services of a curriculum coordinator; the purchase of a passenger van for the center; and the addition of Board members with financial, human resources and strategic planning expertise. In the future, SVP DE will assist WCCELC with its initial entry into the Delaware Stars for Early Success Program.
